IT June 2022 Update

Workday Progress and Updates

Future State Process Design (FSPD) Sessions are an important activity in Workday’s implementation methodology. FSPD Sessions focus on processes targeted for high-level transformation. Report requirements, integrations, key decisions, conversion scope, and change impacts are important outcomes of the FSPD Sessions.

Over the past month, the IT Strategy Team has partnered with stakeholders throughout the UW System to kick off ancillary software validation efforts, complete an integration inventory, and begin planning for identity and access management needs.

Data Conversion

The Data Conversion Team has begun data-mapping sessions for a second Workday environment (the Architect Tenant build). This environment builds on data converted during the Foundation Tenant build. While the Foundation Tenant build focused mostly on human resources (HR) data, this phase will bring in data from finance and research administration, as well as additional HR data.

Integrations

The Integrations Team has begun scheduling integration design sessions. The team continues to work with UW-Milwaukee, the comprehensive campuses, and the UW–Madison Ancillary System Program team on ancillary systems discovery. The ATP leadership team has begun discussing options related to the data needs of systems and processes dependent on data warehouses (EPM and WISER). The effort to build the team continues, with several new members onboarding in the coming weeks.

Security

The Security Team continues to complete training and attend FSPD Sessions while transitioning the team from legacy system support to ATP work. The team continued providing support for all teams within ATP, including server control design and access for the ATP HR, Finance, Research, and Conversion Teams. Work has begun on a standard integrations control set, which is expected to be in draft by the end of June.

Data, Reporting, and Analytics

The Data, Reporting, and Analytics Team has been working with UW reporting stakeholders to validate the reporting inventory and confirm priorities. There has been a cooperative effort to match reports to delivered Workday Standard Reports, to better leverage what Workday provides and mitigate overall project development scope. The team also continues to complete training and attend FSPD Sessions.
